We hit the La Brea Tar Pits with Grandma and Grandpa Peterson this weekend. We've been a few times and the kids love it every time. It's this crazy place in the middle of Los Angeles where tar just bubbles up out of the ground. The tar pools have been there for thousands of years and have millions of fossils trapped in them. Just today they're making an announcement about a huge new find of fossils. If you live near LA and have never been, it's definitely worth the trip, if just for the huge hill that our kids could spend hours rolling down.

I think Tessa is pretending to be one of the scary animals surrounding her.
Owie was never far from Grandpa's shadow.
I think this is a saber-tooth cat (don't let Cal hear you call it a tiger, he'll be sure to correct you) attacking a sloth. Owen was not bothered by the carnage at all.
Grandma and the kids. We love having family come to visit and it's always sad to see them go (for the kids and for me.) G & G volunteered to stay home with the kids on Valentine's Day while Kirt and I went out. Pretty sure it's the first time we've been to the movie theater for a non-kids show in nearly 10 years. Loved it.

looks like fun, i have yet to make it to the tar pits! missin the boys (and tessa jane of course!) owie looks like a stud in all his shots!

can you believe i have never been to the tar pits either? one of those things my dad always wanted to take us to but we never wanted to go. we actually got to go to see a movie on valentine's day too! don't you love when parents volunteer to babysit without asking.
I bet it gets hard not living by family! Somedays I wish I was you though! Looks like you guys had a ton of fun! My kid would love that so much. Very into that kinda stuff.
